Commuter
Challenge Prize Winners
Here, there,
and everywhere. Look out for those City of Wilmington
Super Heroes. At the end of
Week One, they were in the lead and member
Tawannia Bernard won an i-Pod shuffle (thanks
to Catlin Scientific & Engineering) just for doing a good
thing for the community and for herself. She enjoys the
City’s preferential carpool parking–and the company of her
carpool partner– “sometimes we just talk all the way,”
Tawannia says. Bus rider Katherine Gaskins says, “I
never win anything!”, but not anymore. She’s the
Commuter Challenge General Public Winner for Week One.
She’ll be enjoying her Omega Sports gift package
that includes a cool summer backpack, hat, and t-shirt–perfect
for walking–plus some free WAVE bus passes.
UNCW Team Leader Yvette McLaurin pre-registered an
awesome 41 commuters before the Challenge even started.
Love that! And so she won a Cape Fear Breeze Commuter
prize package–a commuter bag filled with goodies,
including a BikeCycles t-shirt, a Cruisers
carwash certificate (be considerate of your carpool
buddies), bicycle reflectors and new bike map, and a
$25 Fanboy Comics Gift Certificate.
And just because we love our Super Heroes, Jim Iannucci–New
Hanover County Team Leader–received a Cape Fear
Breeze commuter bag, a Progress Energy commuter mug,
and bicycle reflectors and new bike map for his
efforts registering County commuters. And because we’re
just so proud of the 407 commuting trips you removed
from our area’s road in our first week, we decided to
give out some extra prizes–five free WAVE trips and
a Progress Energy lunch bag to Janelle DeCosta
and a Cruisers carwarsh certificate to
UNCW’s Kelly Moore.
